Cruz Azul won the first trophy of the new season with a victory in the 2020 Copa por Mexico, a pre-season tournament consisting of eight Liga Mx teams. Cruz Azul was in first place in the Torneo Clausura before the forced break, and are still in fine form.
The fall Liga Mx season will be named the Torneo Guard1anes, in honor of healthcare workers. Los Cementeros will look to win their first league title in 23 years.
